Kern Ballet Collective: A Christmas Carol 2025 Fall Season: Parent/Student Contract Agreement A. Commitment & Participation Item 1: Company Class Attendance We would love for you to attend company classes weekly during company season, totally free! Location: Studio K Dance Company 1st, 3rd, & 4th Fridays 4-5pm | Ages 9-12 5-6pm | Ages 13-21+ (Dancers on pointe may participate if younger than 13) 6-6:30pm | Pointe Item 2: Rehearsal & Performance Participation Winter Performance Tour (“White Christmas”): Show dates: Nov 30, 2025 (tentative), December 6th (Mandatory), & Dec 13, 2025. Mandatory attendance at all company classes and rehearsals; submit known conflicts in advance. Performance fee: $20. There are no refunds for the performance fee. This is to help cover the cost of costumes. In the event of an injury, dancers will be required to sit out until they receive clearance from a medical doctor. A doctor’s note is advised. Competition Season (Spring): Rehearsals: Sept 2025–Mar 2026. Competitions Jan–Mar 2026. Fees: Registration fees + starting at $359 for first solo (additional rates for more than 1 solo & competition), see https://www.lifeonpointe.org/kbc-pilot-20252026, COMPETITION COACHING. Commit to the rehearsal schedule and disclose no-show dates early. Understand that 1-hour rehearsal blocks are given in the first month of rehearsals, then will go to 30 minutes for effective teaching. 1-hour blocks will be given again closer to the time of the competitions for maintenance. RAD Exams (Spring): Exam Rehearsals: Dec 2025–Apr 2026 (location TBD). Exam Date: Royal Academy of Dance will disclose dates to us in January 2026. Fees: Registration fees + $750 (non-affiliated), or registration fees ONLY for affiliated dancers (lifeonpointe.org). Commit to the rehearsal schedule and disclose no-show dates early. Dancers will be placed in exam groups based on age requirements, ability to pass upon performance, and meet certain prerequisites required by the Royal Academy of Dance. Books in Motion Tour (Spring, May–July 2026): Rehearsals begin May, touring in July. Participation is free (lifeonpointe.org). Commit to all rehearsals, disclose no-show dates early. Must disclose conflicts of performance dates at time of registration (May 2026). Injury or sickness will prompt the deployment of an understudy. B. Media Release I grant permission for photographs and videos of the student to be used by Kern Ballet Collective/Life On Pointe School of Dance for promotional and educational purposes (lifeonpointe.org). C. Studio/Company Representation I understand the student represents both their home studio and KBC in all events. In efforts of collaboration, Kern Ballet Collective/Life On Pointe School of Dance will tag and mention studio affiliations on social media and biographies. During RAD exams, students will also be under an RAD-certified teacher. If you are not part of a local dance studio or are part of an agency or collegiate program, we will tag and mention affiliations. D. Code of Conduct & Professionalism Teach and model professionalism in rehearsals and performances. Arrive on time, dressed appropriately, prepared, and with required materials (e.g., leotard, tights, shoes). Notify instructors in advance of any absences or late arrivals. Item 1: Attendance and Punctuality: Classes & Rehearsals will start promptly and on time, therefore, students are expected to arrive on time for classes. Late arrivals disrupt the class and may result in exclusion from the session. It is beneficial for dancers to arrive 5-10 minutes prior to class start time in order to be fully prepared to begin punctually. If a student will be absent, please notify the studio in advance whenever possible. Students are encouraged to make up their classes at their appropriate level. Item 2: Dress Code: Students must adhere to the studio's dress code for each class. Proper attire and footwear are essential for safety and optimal performance. Leotard requirements: no cutouts, no asymmetrical lines, & no more than 4 straps. Pink tights only: this is for the purpose of matching to dancer’s pink ballet shoes. During hot summers you may wear biker shorts. If you are a dancer of color who would like to wear tan tights, tan shoes/skin colored pointe shoes, please feel free to let us know and we will make suggestions on dress code. Pink ballet shoes only. Skirts: dancers may wear skirts at the discretion of the teacher. Boys Attire: White t-shirt / white tank top. Black biker / basketball shorts / black tights / tight sweatpants. Black or white ballet shoes (please match shoes to tights). Adult Attire: Tight t-shirt or tank top / Leggings are an option, or you may adhere to the guidelines above! Hair should be slicked back in a ballet bun WITH HAIR PINS (if you’re unsure how to do a ballet bun, please feel free to ask!). Hair shoulder length or shorter may be tied, clipped, or pinned back. Students’ hair can be a distraction for them and the teachers when this is not adhered to. Jewelry should be kept to a minimum. Children under the age of 12 should have NO Jewelry (small studs okay). Dancers 13+ may have dainty jewelry. Please no watches (sports watches included), bangles/bracelets, large necklaces or heavy earrings in class. Item 3: Behavior and Respect: Students are expected to show respect to instructors, staff, fellow students, and studio property at all times. Please pick up your items and trash to take care of the studio space. Disruptive or disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated and may result in dismissal from the class or studio. Gossip and slander are NOT TOLERATED by parents or students at KBC. If there is an issue with another child, parent, or faculty member, please take it straight to the owner/director (Elyanna Bradshaw) to ensure a safe environment. Please treat others the way you would want to be treated and encourage one another (including the children) to do so as well. Please help everyone feel included. It is natural for cliques to form in dance studio culture, but KBC is committed to valuing one another and including everyone in the conversation to create a fun, safe, and welcoming learning and growth environment. Please trust the teachers. Faculty members at KBC are experienced, capable, educated and qualified to teach their subject. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask, and avoid assuming that the teachers do not have you or your child’s best interest at heart. Item 4: Safety and Injury Prevention: Safety is our top priority. Students must follow all instructions given by instructors to prevent injuries. Report any injuries or concerns to the instructor or studio staff immediately. INJURY RECOVERY: Dancers are encouraged to inquire with the studio for an injury recovery plan. KBC is committed to working with medical physicians and has connections to medical practitioners in regards to benefiting dancers in injury recovery and prevention. E. Cancellation & Refund Policy Fees are non-refundable once submitted (including performance, competition registration, and RAD exam fees). Refunds will be granted if an event, program, or performance is cancelled by the organizers. In cases of extenuating personal circumstances (such as injury or relocation), partial refunds may be considered at the director's discretion. Refunds will not be issued for missed classes, rehearsals, or voluntary withdrawal. F. Termination Clause KBC reserves the right to remove any participant who: Fails to meet attendance or rehearsal commitments. Disrupts classes or behaves unprofessionally. Violates company policies. Shares company information (show dates, repertoire, and other in house information) without permission & before press releases to people outside of the company. If a company member must terminate this contract for any reason other than injury or relocation, a 30 day written notice must be issued. G. Release of Liability I hereby acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions in consideration of being permitted to participate in activities, classes, events, or programs offered by LIFE ON POINTE | School of Dance & Kern Ballet Company (the "Studio"): I understand that dance activities involve a certain level of risk, including but not limited to physical injury. I voluntarily assume all risks associated with my participation in these activities. I release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue the Studio, its owners, employees, instructors, volunteers, and agents from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, or rights of action which are related to, arise out of, or are in any way connected with my participation in the Studio's activities, classes, events, or programs. I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Studio, its owners, employees, instructors, volunteers, and agents from any and all liabilities or claims made as a result of my participation in the Studio's activities, classes, events, or programs. I agree that this Release of Liability is binding on my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns. I certify that I am physically fit and able to participate in the activities offered by the Studio. I agree to follow all instructions given by the Studio's staff and instructors. I understand that this Release of Liability is a legally binding document and that by signing it, I am giving up certain legal rights, including the right to sue. By signing below, I acknowledge that I have read and understood this Release of Liability and voluntarily agree to its terms. H. Acknowledgement I have read, understand, and agree to abide by this contract for the 2025 Fall Kern Ballet Collective season.
